This Message Brought to You By Hallmark.

Someone here at the 75904 has had a bad couple of days. A really bad couple of days. The kind of couple of days that you wish you could do something about, but you know you can't.

I know. Because I, too, have had those exact same kind of couple of days. And believe me, there's nothing anyone can say. And the sweetest friends are the ones who try not to; who call you just to say, "Hi. I love you. Bye." Anyone have those kinds of friends? Can I get a whatwhat?

Oh yes, the best ones are the ones who try not to list off what you should do.
But instead just listen to where you are.

Who try not to come over and help.
But just come over to hang.

The kind of friend who says, "I don't know how you're doing on the outside honey, but your hairs holding up beautifully."

So today, on my way home, I passed by her house and left my idea of a care package. The idea of the care package first came to my attention my freshman year of college when I opened up a box sent by my Granny. Inside of it were a stack of index cards, some Aqua Net hairspray, a half gone pack of gum, a framed picture of my dog, a banana and some homemade cookies. I may have laughed at the randomness, but I also cried at the thoughtfulness.

Sometimes a care package consists of half eaten gum. Sometimes it consists of Ben and Jerry's. Or in the case today it consists of cookie dough, Dr. Pepper, a box of Kleenex and a People magazine. Oh, and an offer for chips and queso on yours truly whenever she's ready to talk. (And I don't know about her, but chips and queso would have me up and out of the house in like, 10, 15 minutes.)

It might not be the best care package in the world - but it was just a little something from my heart; where she abides today, as well.

Just so I'll know for future reference of course, what would be in your care package?

You are a very thoughtful person. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

LONG time lurker and first time commenter. I know everyone says this but we could be best friends! I adore your blog and those feisty kids of yours. Enjoy every second cause they grow way too fast! (take it from me I still miss tuck ins) You are such a sweetie and I agree any old package would do the trick. Once a friend brought me jello with mandarin oranges in it after surgery and it was like heaven. Who knew jello could feel like a hug. Well keep writing cause I will be reading. Your California Weeza Karen~

Oh, I would soooo put in my box... music from the 80's! (You know...Def Leppard, Winger, White Lion, Poison, etc..., big hair bands), a microphone, Modonna bracelets, necklaces and headbands, the movie "Overboard" with Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, Reeses Pieces, a Coca-Cola Classic with Pop Rocks, and a poloroid of me (yes, I still have one buried in the closet) in a big red bow with a big smile on my face just to make her say, "Hummmmm?" I tell ya, things that make you go hummmm?! (Keep in mind that I, too, am a BEAUTIFUL voluptuous woman and I will be dressed in a big red bow with a big "say cheese" smile!) Oh, that box would be toooooo good! Go me!!! Love ya, Kristina

Reese's Pieces, Swedish Fish, a great YA book, and an invitation for either chips and queso or french fries. Yum.

I wish you lived closer. I truly do.

I think everyone says that Melissa would be their best friend because she is just that kind of a person. The kind that everyone can relate to. The kind that WOULD sit with you and let you cry or bring you a care package. I know I feel the same way! You would LOVE me! LOL. In MY care package you can leave out the Kleenex because I just cry WAY too much for that! They would be gone in 60 seconds honey! You could stick in a Large Mocha Frappe from Paris Coffee Co. in Paris, Texas, take out from PF Changs, some Blackberry Cobbler and ice cream and a mountain dew. That SHOULD keep me busy for awhile!

People magazine, a diet Dr. Pepper and M&M's.

I'm so glad you stood in the gap for your friend today.

Did you say chips and queso? From Chili's, I presume, with their awesome salsa? Say no more because that would be all I would need.

It's been a long time since I responded on here. I've been away. For me, my care package would involve a letter from you about anything, sweet tea, and sunbutter cookies. Oh, and an invite for chips and queso (along with a listening ear) would be perfect. you are too wonderful

What a wonderful person you are! I hope someone is telling you that every day.

In my box would be a roll of toilet paper....I know it is weird, but when you run out it can be really horrible.

Julio's chips.....um, an authentic guac dip starter, and a picture of you for my wallet....just so I can tell people, I know that girl who writes the most hilarious blog and is related to me by name:)
Love you, sister.
Everytime I hear Mandisa, "He is with you", I think of you.

You're a great friend and the care package sounds great. I end up making stuff for people, like casseroles, lasagna when all else fails I turn to food.

Love your blog and your sweet ways. My care pkg would include a jar of salsa, tortilla chips, their favorite pop a bouquet of flowers and a sweet little note letting them I was thinking of them and am only a phone call away.

In college, I was having a hard time and my mom sent me "Sunshine Bear." He's a little yellow bear and every time I'd look across my dorm room and see him, I'd remember that my mom loved me and was praying for me. When my mom was going through a particularly dark time I sent him back to her. I'll be 40 this year and over the years, he's traveled many miles back and forth. This year he even went to kindergarten with my daughter on a day she was feeling low. So I'd pack a sunshine bear.

What a good idea... I think I would like a whole bag of individually wrapped Reeses (I know!), a really nice card with a long, handwritten card telling me how much you love me and why, a bottle of bubbles, and a stack of trashy magazines and papers (Globe, Enquirer, Star), and maybe an Archie comic book, and top it off with a good movie.
