Julio's: In Ten Acts

Act One:
Julio's arrives via FedEx. I pay no attention to the fact that I am wielding scissors around my small child. She's kinda all up in my space, though.

Act Two:

She totally thinks this is for her, so that's me saying, "I don't think so, suckkkkkeeerrrr!"

Act Three:

Oh, my sweet friend put in a card. It said something like, "Dear Melissa, I love Stretch Marks. It has gotten me through some very difficult times. Thank God for you. You are the best. If I didn't have you and Stretch Marks where would I be? You may be the best thing that has ever happened to me. And certainly the best thing to ever happen to the internet! I can't breathe without knowing that ..." yada yada yada. I'm not sure if that's exactly it, but I feel sure that's what she meant.

Act Four:

Clearly someone has gotten distracted.

Act Five:

"Remi, BACK AWAY from the Chips."

Act Six:

This is me singing Praise. I do it a lot. Not normally over chips. But this is a special day.

Act Seven:

"Remi, this is not a word I ever want you to use...but these are MINE."

Act Eight:

"Seriously Remi, I'm not kidding."

Act Nine:

I'm like a proud mama. Seriously though, after the AG took this picture he looked at it and said, "Melissa, there is a good chance you are making too big a deal over these chips. Your holding them like you just gave birth to them."

Act Ten:

Fifteen minutes later I walk back in the room and find this! Did no one pay heed to my words? I said, "Hands off!" But what could I do??? They looked so cute. And as I always say, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

I'm not gonna lie. We had chips for dinner that night.

Thank you Angela. Thank you very, very, much, sweet friend.

Where do I begin here? Remi's fabulous bow-hair? Your proud momma face at birthing twin bags of chips? The fact that I have never had these chips and should probably try them at some point in my existence?

I love your blog too and check it every day, sometimes several times just in case you've posted something that I've missed. I've got a bloggy crush.

I think it's funny to imagine what happened when the box first arrived.

"Oh my God! They're here! The chips are here. Quick, David, get the camera. We have to REMEMBER this..."

At least, that's how it plays out in my mind.

I am totally laughing right now...exactly the way I would behave...
So describe these Julio chips a bit more, I think I missed that part.
why EXACTLY are they so special?????
(I'm feeling like I may have just asked very loaded question)

Melissa, I found you last night (were you missing??) though Debbie at "this is the life". I sat and read your blog for 2 hours (instead of folding laundry! You are a very funny girl. I had so much fun reading last night that I completely missed my favorite show, House Hunters. That's how good you are. I had to pop back over her this morning just to say hi and thanks. I now appreciate my stretch marks more than ever!

The chips crack me up! I have nevre seen or heard of them, but I see nothing wrong with eating chips for dinner (or sugar cereal for that matter).

May I link you?

Melissa, I've suspected this for a long time, but this PROVES it. You are NOT RIGHT!!!!!!! ;)

That hair bow on that little Remi is so stinkin' cute that instead of jonesin' for chip I am jonesen' for a daughter.

Melissa, can we please be friends? You are SO my people.

Sissy said...

Chips for dinner? Wonderful. I could so do that...but you might have to explain a little more about the chips.

You are too funny. I like that you took the time to take the photos, because this is a monumentous occasion. How many bags did she send?

Lula! said...

I'm so glad we are BFFs now...because this means you will share your chips. Please?

I'm also glad there's another hairbowed child in the world, because my girls are identified by their bows. If for some reason Libbey doesn't have one on at school (due to braids or ponytails) she and I both get asked, "Where's the BOW?" Love me some girls and their bows. Oh, yes.

I love that you cuddle your chips then feed them to your family for dinner!

I love the pictures. I can just hear you playing director to your husband, oh AG, please click now for Act 1. Ok, click now for Act 2.
OK, Remi, sweetie, look real purdy for the camera...Remi, Remi, give me those chips! Now I'm hungry.

Get over the chips already!
Hadn't seen you so excited since you found out they were frying twinkies at the state fair.
Don't publish this - I mean it.

I can relate....an internet friend once sent me two bottles of Moxie( a soda only found in certain NE states) I had that same sense of excitement when they arrived and I didn't want to share either...although luckily for me no one else in my family likes Moxie( they think it's gross) so I didn't have to...LOL

I am leaving now to go google Julio's chips. I must know what these are - as giving birth to them while still looking wonderfully together - peaks my curiousity. ;)

Oh that I could get away with chips for dinner! But my husband wants veggies. Two if possible.

OK, I commented on this famous post when it first "aired," but...and Melissa knows what I'm gonna say with this but...and THIS butt...

GIRL! WHERE'S OUR DARN JULIO's??? We've been waiting and begging and reminding and praying. Wasn't AG supposed to use his superior legal talents to find a way for us all to have our own Julio's? Just askin'.

Wow now that is dedication and love. Too bad it's over a bag of chips. Hehehe. No worries everyone has their vices. At least you admit yours.

Take care my SITSa!

I've never heard of these chips, and I'm thinkin' I'm missin' out on something big...

Your Remi is adorable. I love the bow. And the pictures of you telling her to back off. hehe

Is your hubby an attorney? So is mine. Hmmm...we both have a Remy/Remi and a lawyer hubby? We need to talk, girlfriend.

I had chips for dinner last night. With Walmart black bean salsa.....it was gooooood.
I would like to give you props on my blog if that's okay. The first stretch mark quote is second to none! Melissa's are the bomb!

Sherri said...

I guess I better try and find me some of those chips!!! They must be great!! Yeah we've had chips for dinner before!

Laura said...

I don't know what Julio's chip are, but if you're prone to becoming addicted to chips, DO NOT try Utz Salt & Malt Vinegar chips. You'll never want to eat anything else. Ever. Even chocolate.

I love getting packages in the mail! Someone could have sent me a box with nothing but bubble wrap or packing peanuts and I'd be giddy just over the excitement of having something to open. But those chips, they must really be the bomb. I'm going to have to figure out how to get my hands on some.

Perksofbeingme said...

new reader over from SITS. This might be the greatest thing I've seen in a while. I've never had these chips but the way you're holding them, might just make he have to go find them. I have a feeling this will be a hard search. Where can I find them?

Anonymous said...

That's it! I am going to have to look for those chips. I personally have a love affair with Have'a Chips, they are to.die.for.

I love the hairbow. I have a photo of myself, as a child, wearing a bow just like that. Little Remi is also seriously cute.

That's the best kind of dinner! We eat our chips with guacamole at our house. And then icecream for desert.

Amy said...

That was so cute! All the pics tell a story and I loved it.

I really enjoy getting ideas from fellow bloggers for future posts!

OMG!! I can't believe I am admitting this, but I am originally from Del Rio...birth place of Julio's chips and my dad knows "Julio"!! Not only that, but...before these chips EVER came in a bag, they used to sell them out of his house and in a huge bucket. Tell me you have had the salsa too!! You cannot eat these chips without the salsa. WE only use Julio's seasoning on our fajitas and EVERYONE literally begs my husband to open a fajita restaurant. How did you know about Julio's?

OMG, life without Julio's? My heart aches for you sad ladies! I buy them by the jumbo bag. All that delish salt and the little crumbs at the bottom are fantastic as a coating for boneless, skinless chicken breasts. Seriously! I keep the crumbs in a ziploc in the freezer. Just spray your chicken with some Pam and dredge in the seasoning/crumbs. Spray again and bake. Yum-o!

WOW! I was Googling "Julio's Chips" to show my friend what they are all about. I grew up in Del Rio and I used to go to Julio's (THE Julio) house many years ago before the chips were available in the store. We would go to his house and he would just fill up a bucket of chips right there where he made them. They are so good!!!
