DCC - TEAM 3...YEAH YOU KNOW ME!

A few nights ago I found myself surrounded by a group of women. Now normally being surrounded by a group of women might not be a good thing. It might mean comparing yourself to a sure death, or clawing yourself due to all the cattiness.

But then, of course, there's Jerry Seinfeld, who believes that women being together means there is at least a small chance a pillow fight might break out.

Men.

However, on this particular night - I had a really nice time. We didn't do much, just ate. And talked. And considered playing a game of Mafia, but then just kept on talking. And then we had dessert. And then we kept on talking.

And amidst all that talking something wonderful happened.

My eyes were opened.
My blinders were removed.
And my life was changed.

All due to a night with some ladies from church.

Why, you ask? Why was my life changed? Why was the heaviness I feel due to these economic times lifted from my shoulders, if even for a moment?

Because of this...

I am not sure who said it (if I did I would most assuredly give her some props) but someone said that this show was classic television. And Lordy have mercy, it most certainly is.

Meridith and I found the marathon they were running on CMT this past Saturday, recorded all seven episodes and haven't moved off the couch since Sunday evening.

Oh, y'all...it's delicious.

Now, I'm not gonna lie. Meridith and I did look at each other with just a little bit of hopelessness in our eyes when they let one girl go due to her being "bottom heavy." And I remembered thinking that I would rob the nearest bank for a bottom that heavy.

But it's full of all the good stuff that you come to expect from a show where women wear nothing but bikini bottoms, exercise until they nearly puke, have to dance in front of judgmental and catty woman who are paid big money to ridicule and degrade them, and are then criticized for the length of their fingernails and their salacious MySpace pictures.

Yeah, we're talkin' good, clean, American fun.

And I'm only watching it so I'll know how to pray for these girls.

Uh, huh. And Amen.

So let me know if any of you are watching it. And let me know if she reminds you of the popular girl from your high school, who sat in the cafeteria and looked everyone over from head to toe before she spoke to them.

As Meridith said, "Someone needs to take her down a few notches...and I think we're just the two women to do it!"

Uh, huh. And Amen.

Girl, where have you been? The DCC is a Fruit Bowl favorite. We actually gathered together one night to watch it before viewing a Beth Moore video. Priorities, ya know.

Here's a tip. Try and count how many times in a season they say "our uniform very is unforgiving."

We joked that it might be a fun adventure to go to tryouts one year and try to get on TV. I won't name names but one of us actually went home to practice her high kicks. : )

I love me some Kelly Finglass. Oh yes I do.

Really? We wonder why American girls have such bad self esteem and eating disorders run rampid! I think the head honcho lady ought to try out to be a Coyote Ugly girl. Or let Simon from American Idol take a run at her. I do have to admit though, the show is like crack (although I have never tried crack). Once you start, you're hooked. Someone send in an INTERVENTION!

Blessings!

Okay, it was me and I want my props! Classic TV. And that Kelly Finglass has to make some tough decisions and I kinda like her now. She just wants what is best for the cowboys organization...and yes, she would want you to know that it's the Dallas "Cowboys" Cheerleaders because you aren't just cheering for one cowboy. The uniform is what is is and Kelly can't help that. And you always say "yes mam" to Kelly Finglass...always.

YA!!! Another DCC Addict!!!!
I pretty much have sat @ home the past 3 Sat. nights to watch the new episode of this show! I must say the poor girl who was let go because she was bottom "heavy" had a very nice attitude about it. Ms. Finglass has not seen true "Bottom Heavy" until she steps out of her DCC cave and looks a little more at all of us ladies from Texas! Ill trade bottoms w/ "Ms. Bottom Heavy" ANY DAY!!!!!!

I donwgraded my cable so sadly I do not have CMT anymore! But when I did, I loved watching that show!!! As a former high shool cheerleader I love watching them do things I couldn't even think about doing!! Great show!! I would bawl if I were her everytime I had to give someone the boot (cause they couldn't loose an extra lb) GREAT TV

Let me echo my peeps, I cant believe you have just discovered this wonderful phenomenon? ITS MY FAVE! Seriously, we are going to try out and we are going to be those women over 30 with 500 kids that everyone expects to make a fool out of themselves and we will kick butt. I am sure we will be let go when they realize how unforgiving the uniform is on us though. But it would be fun! Just FYI I love Kelly! She cracks me up!

I love this show, but can only stand so much of it before I have to go get my friend Ben & Jerry's to console me. CRAZY. But crazy good!

DCC is my secret sin...I love to watch it. I tell my husband it is an unrealized dream--growing up in Texas and all...and ddo you remember the movie? With Jane Seymour...that was it!! I had to be a cheerleader. Now I vicariously live through those girls, knowing that even back then I would've been cut for being "bottom heavy." And now--well--Let's just say my birthing hips would not fit in that unforgiving uniform.

My husband bursts into laughter everytime one of the girls breaks down in tears. And then I can't help but laugh..it's an ugly vicious cycle. Then he spends his time angry that he didn't think of the "power squad" first, because we would have millions!

Good Times.

I just discovered this show recently too! And it IS addictive! (Of course, I didn't have the benefit of a 7-episode marathon.... I only had 2!)

I saw the girl who was "bottom heavy" Hrmph! And I had to laugh at Teresa's comment above about the "uniforms being very unforgiving"

Yeah! I'm glad there are more fans out there besides me!

I think I'm going to have to have a kick-off with Big Nanny because I am remembering that I was the one who started the beloved DCC conversation.

Glad you love it!

DCC is one of those shows I don't follow regularly, but I do love to catch as a marathon. Kelly Finglass has the world's best job. Can you imagine? I mean, an office near all those football players, not too much travel, not too many hours of actual work (since she doesn't actually teach the girls anything) and she doesn't have to wear the uniform. I feel bad for the ones from the previous years that don't get picked again cause they gained 5 pounds, but you know: the uniform is unforgiving!

Oh, Oh, Oh, my!! I can't believe I'm admitting this, but I too, have watched EVERY episode of the DCC. I was born and raised in the "big D" and I hate how addicted I am to this show. And for some reason, when they let a girl go because her kicks aren't high enough, I find myself yelling at Kelly Finglass, "Her kicks look exactly like everyone elses!" It also amazes me that even during their workouts, their hair and makeup are still just as perfect and fresh as it was before push-ups, crunches, and running! I've NEVER looked like that after a workout.....only red-faced and drenched in sweat.

I say they should have to get in the ring with Gina Carano to get a place on the team. Then we'll see how bad they really want it. ;)

I have said very often that a night with Project Runway and the DCC and it is a perfect storm of viewing pleasure. I love this show!!!!!!! I am not sure what it says about me that my 15 year old daughter and 13 year old twins watch too. I suppose I can justify it by saying these are "teachable moments," but as one of the twins says,"This show is oddly addicting" Can I have my parenting award now or later? Love your blog and live right here in your neck of the woods. Lara

I am obviously not hip to the best tv in America. But it looks very addicting. I'm glad you are there to pray for them. Ha!

Yes, my PPP is 17 and we have found it addictive sense its first year. When I have plastic surgery, I want to be Kelly Finglass. Or maybe the dance teacher who hits them in the head. Both a little bottom heavy themselves, Kelly tries to distract with the shoes, appropriate for a football field OR a dance studio. Either. Love it.
