Today's Not Great and Tomorrow Ain't Lookin' Good Either.

Good morning, my lovelies.

There's a whole lotta nothin' goin' on up in here. What about y'all?

Well, I shouldn't say that. My mom is still in town, which means that many things have been said that both astonish and mortify me - sometimes at the same time. Like when we were coming through security at the airport the other day and she plainly referred to the female security agent as a "sir." Maybe that's not a big deal if the female security officer in question was both lovely and feminine. But that was not necessarily the describing words I would use.

We got off lucky in that she only took my apple.

Then there's Remi. Who has decided that having a brother might not be all it's cracked up to be. Oh, she adores him - don't get me wrong; she is just taking out her aggression on me, I assure you. Yesterday, after a moment that called for "corporal punishment" at its finest, I walked back into the room to do the proverbial "let's hug it out" and she stood up on the bed, put her little arms in the air and exclaimed, "I know momma, I know...but I just don't care. I just don't care."

More corporal punishment was inflicted.

Today Rocco is 1 month old. My sweet little man came into this world an even 7 pounds and has already gained 3 more. He's a 10 pounder! Which just goes to prove that NO ONE - seriously, NO ONE - can come into my home and not put on weight.

So mom and I are speaking at another engagement this weekend. On Saturday we are speaking for a group of mothers and grandmothers on the subject, "Passing IT Down." We have been discussing exactly what this will entail for us to share.
She assumes it means passing down things to our children - such as godly wisdom.
I assume it means the fact that she passed down her extremely dry skin.
She assumes it means passing down a legacy of blessing.
I assume it means the fact that we can just think about chocolate and should immediately down a water pill.

Either way, it shall be fun. Of this we can be sure. Unless she refers to any of the ladies as "Mister" or "Gentlemen." Then, I'm out!

Oh man, Remy is my kinda kid! I swear my children will spit fire just like I did...payback, I suppose. Wait until her little but needs a talkin' to from your hand and she says "THAT DIDN'T HURT!" after you're finished. OH BOY, childhood memories at their finest!

My grandmother gave my mother a book called "Parenting your Rebellious Child" or some such title like that. I think I must have been worse than Remi, but it must be hard not to laugh when she just "doesn't care."

I am so hyped about this weekend and hearing you guys talk! Did you know that is the whole reason I decided to take my daughter? Don't tell her, she thinks it is for her! Ha!

O:)

I don't know how you do these talks (in other words, think deep thoughts and share them with others) while having a month old baby.

Water pill? Where do I find these mysterious objects?

Welcome to sibling rivalry. It's a hoot. :\ And congrats on the little guy hitting 10 pounds. Now if I could just lose four of him.

I'm laughing at Shelley...yes, Remi will get over it. You, on the other hand, maybe not. But then she will find something new to charm you with at least SOME point in any given week that you're aware you're not over it. HA! Shoot, before you know it, it will be a three generation gig. I'd fly across the country for that.

She'll come around more once he starts doing stuff. Then, she'll be mad that people think he's cute and oohing and aahing over sitting up and walking. Your life will never be the same! LOL.
A lady at my church did a service once on aprons- how grandmothers and mothers pass things on down (household advice to spiritual pass-downs) to daughters. It was extremely touching. She delivered it on Mother's Day!

Your mom is an awesome speaker and I'm sure you are just the same....something she passed down to you. I wish I could be there to hear you. Remi will get over the jealousy in a few months. We were sure Natalie would kill Morgan before she was six months old but low and behold she lived! She hit her in the head with key ring full of keys at around 3 weeks and scared us to death. She definitely didn't care either! Believe me, it will get better.
Love ya',
