There's Just Something About A Man With An Accent.

I've never been very boy crazy, not even as a young girl. Oh sure, I got a good "school girl crush" every now and again. But with the exception of five young guys who were simply new kids on the block (I'd really rather not say who they are - it's embarrassing), I never was one for Teen Beat magazine or hanging pictures on my wall.

But yet, I am a woman. With a heartbeat. I mean, I'm not dead for pete's sake.

So riddle me this...what is it about a man in a tux?
Or a man with an accent?

Is it just me or can a man with an accent pretty much get you to buy anything? Seriously, I almost signed up for a multi-level marketing scheme from a man who came to my door just because he spoke with an accent. And I'll be darned if I didn't see him waiting tables at Pancho's only two weeks later.

See? I'm a sucker.

Are you?

I know my poor Aunt Melba is on the brink of tears at this very picture
of Antonio Banderas in his swashbuckling garb and Latin accent...

Or maybe you're more like Meridith...you're more a Mr. Darcy kind of girl.

And then there's Kristen, whose taste has greatly improved. She went from Donnie Wahlberg to Bono in just 18 short years.

Or maybe you're more of the athletic type, like my girl Ali. More Beckham, less Bono. Okay, whatever, to each his own.

But me? I'm none of these. No, I like them kind of quirky. Kind of chubby. And very, very white.

Meet my new crush.

I bet if you read yesterday's post and thought, "Oh, poor Melissa, nothings wrong with her," you're really re-thinking that now aren't you?

And yes, the Attorney General knows about this, and surprisingly, does not feel threatened in the least.

Girl, this is the second hysterical video I have seen in 12 hours and I am laughing my head off! You always bring a smile to my face and a laugh to my heart, but this is just an extra to start my day off right! Check out the other vid that made me laugh at my blog campbellchatter.blogspot.com

Have a super Tuesday!

Oh how I heart Ricky Gervais!!

I saw this yesterday and nearly cried from sheer joy. There is something about his accent that sends me over the moon too. And then you add my American crush into the mix (Steve Carrel) and I'm in comedy heaven.

LOL! I'm not at all interested in a man with a tux or an accent, but give me a construction worker or mechanic and I'm a happy girl! Now, what does that say about a person?

I am TOTALLY a Mr. Darcy. Seriously. I own two versions of Pride and Predjudice and I love almost everything with Collin Firth. I am currently reading the book "Mr. Darcy Takes a Wife" by Linda Berdoll which imagines what takes place after he and Elizabeth get married. SO fun.

Ok, that might have been TMI. But I won't take it back.

I can't wait to see the moving he's in right now - looks adorable.

And a message for Antonio, what are you waiting for? I'm yours for the asking.

I love an accent, but Ricky Gervais doesn't do it for me. Now Pierce Brosnan, on the other hand.........

Seriously? What's doing it for you?

Okay, I guess it's okay to come out about this. It seems that I am among friends here.

I absolutely L.O.V.E. Colin Firth's guts......

And this fellow is wonderful, I just saw him on a commercial on TV. Apparently, I'm not watching the correct shows because I'm not sure I've ever seen him in anything. But he must be because he won an Emmy last year. I'm so in touch, people.

Love Ricky. :-) Yeah, the accent does it for me too, Pierce Brosnan especially in "Thomas Crown Affair" *swoon*

Ricky is funny and that adds a LOT of points. But Colin? Yep.

How silly is this--I'm from the South and a Southern accent does me in. Lucky for my husband. A Latino accent is kinda nice too, but I have to go with Ms. Collins. To really do me in, put a man with an accent in some jeans, a white tee shirt, a flannel unbuttoned over top and a leather tool belt. I should buy my husband this outfit and let him be a carpenter for Christmas. I meant to say Halloween. LOL I have to leave that in there.

That was HILARIOUS. I'm partially in love with him now too. That skit was soo funny.

Too funny! The accent didn't do it for me. I'm more of an angst girl-like John Gruden, or a "just try to get these tight jeans off me" Tim McGraw.
CUte blog you have here!FOund you off AmyAmyBoBamey's blog!

Haha! He is too funny! That moment with Steve Carell - priceless!

And I, too, have a thing for accents I guess (since I married my Colombian man!).

My daughter's soccer team had a game last week and the coach for the other team looked and sounded like Antonio. Oh. My. Stars. I couldn't take my eyes off him. He was delightful. (Parent's around me couldn't get over how much he yelled, but I liked it. It enabled me to hear him better. I had to keep telling the parents to shut up. I couldn't hear him over all their complaining.)

Also, with the video. That particular accent didn't do anything for me. However, the "Look at his stupid face..." had me laughing out loud!!!

Hey! It doesn't even have to be a foreign accent for me!!! Matthew McConaughey's southern accent (Texas accent???) on the beef commercials makes me want to eat BEEF for EVER meal!!!! And for snacks, too!!!! It's like maple syrup on a warm sunny day. It just ooozes.... ahhh.... ok, I'm hungry just thinging about it.

I'm a little torn between Mr. Darcy and Bono, but I think I'm learning towards Mr. Darcy. Yummy.

Paul Potts reminds me of him as well...you know Paul Potts right? He's a charmer. I'm right there with you!

There is nothing wrong with you. He is cute, great accent and the funniest person ever. Have you ever seen Extras. It was hillarious and I am sad it is over.

Well, I don't get it... but whatever floats your boat! (I actually thought he liked men? Maybe I'm way off with my radar on that one!)

Oh my!! I have had The biggest crush on Colin Firth for years and thought I was the only one! It looks like I am joining a host of other ladies with fine taste in men. Yours is adorable, too.

Definitely an accent. I have a HUGE crush on the British dude trapped in my GPS!

My boyfriend when I was 17 and 18 was a beautiful boy from Stratfor-Upon-Avon England. He spoke in perfect Queen's English and when he spoke I melted. I used to take him to church with me and when we'd sit in Sunday school he would always get picked on to read scripture because I wasn't the only one that loved to hear him speak.

I think you are just special. Nothing's actually wrong with you, but you are definitely "SPECIAL"!
I never go for those guys all the other girls are going for. Brad Pitt? George Clooney? Pfft. They just don't do it for me.

Oh yeah... Colin Firth... yummy!

I hear you on Ricky Gervais - he was the best part of the Emmys and Extras had us rolling on the floor each week at our house.

Other random British men on whom I now or in the past have harbored a huge crush (mostly 'cause of the accent): Alan Rickman, Jeremy Irons, Sean Connery (um yeah, I know, they're all rather oooold, what can I say, I married a younger man!), Pierce Brosnan, David Bowie, 3/5s of the original line-up of Duran Duran (sue me, it was the 80s and I was a teenager), Colin Firth, Hugh Grant...........

The only downside to *hearting* men with British accents is that they also tend to have British teeth - eeeeeek! :D

Cheers!
