It's a Sprint Mogul. I, However, Am Not.

Hey y'all, look! This is my new phone.

Isn't it fancy?

I love it.

Okay, love is a strong word. But I do like it. A lot. I suppose I could use the word love if there were just a few tweaks that I could figure out.

For instance...

I would like to be able to dial a phone number on it. But unfortunately the numbers are so little that I had to pull my car over just to type in seven numbers. And even then I had to type them in using the little magic pen that comes with it because apparently your fingers have to be the size of a 4 month old, and, well, mine aren't.

I would like to be able to answer a call when it comes in. This would be handy, I'm not gonna lie. Not that I have important phone calls coming in every minute of the day - but I would like to be able to answer it should my cousin Meridith call with the all important information of what goes in to making Super Cheesy Garlic Bread. (Other than the obvious, of course.)

Texting would be nice. I had finally figured out how to text on my old phone. But on this new super-hero phone? Nyet. I thought I had finally figured it out the other day and sent a "test text" to the AG. But instead of opening up a text message he opened up a voice recording and heard me saying, "Stupid phone. I oughta throw you out the...Remi, do not take your diaper off again. Remi, DO NOT! Remi! Okay, I guess it's fine to leave it off for a few minutes. A girls gotta have some freedom."

Receiving texts? Forget it. Meridith texted me the key ingredient to Super Cheesy Garlic Bread and I didn't get it. MAYO! Do you have any idea how important a text is with just the word "Mayo" on it? The world would be a lot sweeter place if we all received text messages that simply said - Mayo. At least mine was. But alas, it is not to be.

And then lastly...

I would like to be able to turn it on. And off. I mean, I know it goes on and off, because at the start of every day I say, "Honey, can you turn my phone on?" and at the end of every day I say, "Honey, can you turn my phone off?" And he does. But he's a brainiac and he knows lots of useless knowledge - like how to turn things on and off. Nerd.

By the way, if anyone out there knows how to do this next task I would really like some help: I have a message that someone special left me on my phone. I would like to share it with all of you.

But. I. Don't. Know. How.
Shocker, huh?

Anyone know how to take a voice recording and transfer it to my computer so that I can upload it, embarrass her to death, yet provide unlimited enjoyment for all of you? Anyone? Anyone?

There may be something wonderful in it for you if you can walk me through it.
I doubt it.
But there might be.
Okay, there's not.
But still...

Only you'll have to email me your instructions cuz I still don't know how to check my voicemail. Unless the AG is home. And he presses the buttons. Nerd.

I always add fresh parsley to my garlic bread because somebody told me it offsets the garlic from stinking up your breath. And it tastes good.

Good luck with the phone!

Btw..didn't you happen to get an instruction manual? ;)

I'll never forget when my dad got his first cell phone (the cheap little kind that you buy at WalMart, and have to add minutes too)I tried to call him and all I heard him say in a really muffled voice was "Stupid Phone!" LOL :)

Now you have to give us that recipe - my mouth is watering for some of that bread! Did you say mayo? That's one of my 4 food groups!

What made you get the Mogul rather than the HTC Touch or the Samsung Instinct? (Hey, I've been checking out new phones too!)

And Karol, Melissa and instruction manuals don't exactly go together now, do they? Maybe the AG, but definately not Melissa!

Find a teenager - you'll be a pro in 10 minutes.

To transfer it to your computer, use the very cool, very free, very easy to use, did I mention free? software called Audacity. I love it. I've used it to transfer all our old records and cassettes to mp3 and .wav files. LOVE IT. Just google "audacity software" and you'll find it. Then you just have to play the voicemail to your computer (do you have a webcam? They often have microphones that you can use to record the voicemail onto your computer) then use Audacity to create a .wav or MP3 file, and you're off. And we get to laugh. Good luck!

I'd be in the mini-van on my way back to the store. I give up way too easily. You are a much stronger woman than I....plus my fingers are so fat, I've had my wedding band resized 3 times in 10 years! The buttons I have on my current phone are almost too small. Just call me Amazon Woman!

Oh, my! My coworkers now think I'm crazy for just busting out laughing in the middle of the silence. Thanks for brightening my day! But I have no idea how to help you on this. If you'd like I could ask my nerd husband! Haha!

So, I was just about ready to drive from my office in Franklin down to Spring Hill to the house of our "office manager" and rip his head off... UNTIL I read your blog for today! I laughed so hard that I totally forgot about the twit that I have to refer to as "my boss". (ok... twit is a strong and very unchristian word)

Thanks!

I'm no help on the cell phone, but I do think you should share the Super Cheesy Garlic Bread recipe! Yummm!!

Hmmm...I have no idea. I am not a very helpful techie. Sorry! Good luck answering those calls though! :)

Why don't you ask AG? I want a blackberry. My husband got one a couple of months ago and offered to get me one at the same time. I told him to just get his first and figure it all out then once he had it down he could get me one and show all he had learned. I still haven't gotten one yet. . .

I love getting new technology, but there's always such a steep learning curve. BUT, if I don't keep up, how will I be able to communicate with my kids? Especially when they get older and more tech savy than I am.

You crack me up. Always.

Okay, so what you're saying is we should all go out and but one of these "super hero" phones?

You're quite the spokes model...
Good luck

i have the sprint rumor. I bought it because it has a full qwerty keyboard, and it came in green. I'm still not sure how to send e-mail on it. But at least it's cute.

Oh my, I thought I was going to have to come back and try reading this again later after the message the AG got on his phone when you were trying to text him. But I pulled myself together. Snort. Barely.

If it came with a cord to connect it to the computer there may be a way. Although I'm not sure you can actually capture voicemail. Just play it and stick it close enough to computer microphone. Hit record. Then make sure to post it as fast as possible. :)

I just got an LG Scoop on Sunday and I really do not know how to use it. I know they give us those tiny little manuals with a year's worth of reading packed onto about 150 pages, but, as a teacher, I don't like to read. That's just me.

And I need to know how to text. Not that I have anyone to text, but I really do not even know how to do it. At. all.

at least it's not your CHILD who can work the phone when you cannot.

Sorry, I can't help you with the phone, but I just had to say that I am still in love with your blog. Yes, I could have used the word like, but I really do think I love it. You are one witty woman.

Well, at least its pretty, right?

I know just how you feel. I got a blackberry about 6 months ago and I still can't work it! lol And the iPhone, forget it! And Im a graphic designer for goodness sakes! You would think I cout understand a little phone. I speak HTML as my second language! hehe

Wish I could help you more, hopefully the AG can help you out! :)

I'm perfectly content being the much needed humour in someone's day. lol

In fact, I think I blogged one time about how I will happily sacrifice myself to get a good belly laugh out of someone.

Hey, did you know that it's my mom that is going to be printing (or possibly has already, I'm not sure???) your things that inspire you list?

Cool. I'm very excited!

I just have a cheapy phone but I discovered that it lets me just TALK to it to get it to do stuff. Yours should be able to do that do...seriously, ask someone about that.
I just have to open my phone and then say...VOICE DIAL...and then say...like...HOME...and it will just call home. OR I just say the number and it will just...DIAL it for me.
SOOOO EASY!
Check it out.
I may have just saved your life.

Okay I just read the rest of your post...(I do that in real life too...cut people off to say my piece and then listen to the rest of what the were getting around to saying later...anyways, I'm rambling 'cause I'm an idiot still awake at 3:22 am!)
But I'm gonna research the answer to your real question...I'll be back tomorrow with what I find.

That was so funny. I cannot figure out anything with buttons except a typewritter or computer...and with broadband I'm constantly telling my hubby...I think I broke the computer...but it's just he internet down again.

My girlfriend gave me a used bread-machine...she nicknamed it R2D2 (like in Star-War's...the old movie) and it looks like that robot. I'm trying to talk myself into trying it out...but it has buttons and is programable (there is an instruction booklet). It's a new 10 year old model, so it must not be too user friendly. LOL.
